Colville Ward Councillor Ian Henderson was listening. He felt he had to do something. After speaking with the two other Colville Ward Councillors, Monica Press and Nadia Nail, they came up with a plan.

Ian is from Portobello in Edinburgh, went to Portobello High School and played Rugby with Portobello Rugby Club. Colville Ward is home to Portobello Market and Portobello Road.

Earlier in the year Ian met up with one of his old school and rugby colleagues Gordon Barclay - Gordon had stated that he was a keen cyclist and was happy to cycle for good causes.
After a brief conversation with Gordon
Barclay and Donny McIntyre of Portobello High School and Portobello FP RF, the plan was finalised.

Gordon rode from Portobello in Edinburgh to Portobello in London.

Donny McIntyre had been aware of the MND Charity - My Name'5 Doddie Foundation - Set up by the ex Scottish Rugby International - Doddie Weir. The purpose of the charity is to raise funds and awareness of MND.

Donny McIntrye suggested we ask Rugby Clubs for their support and has arranged for Gordon to stop at Portobello FP Rugby, Melrose Rugby, Newcastle Falcons, Leicester Tigers and finally ending up in Portobello Market on Friday 29th March.

We were delighted the following organisations pledged their support for the amazing initiative:

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Edinburgh City Council,
